I grew up in Michigan, which is basically the frozen tundra.

Seriously, we watched football outdoors in shorts when it walk is the 50's. Ooooh, balmy. 

I did my first undergrad in Manhattan. Neither of these places uses the words "bikini ready" very often.

...then I moved to South Florida. The land of perpetual bikini readiness. Groan.

Dear First Trimester of My Pregnancy (An ode to Hyperemesis Gravidarum)

Yesterday, May 15th, was Hyperemesis Gravidarum (HG) Awareness Day.  I intended to blog and tweet about it but my sinus infection had other plans. Curse you, pollen!

If you don't know about hyperemesis gravidarum (HG) it is morning sickness on steroids. It is constant, unrelenting ALL DAY and NIGHT sickness, and it usually lasts the full 9 months of a pregnancy. Honestly, I think this has been my mantra for MUCH LONGER than I'd like to admit. I watched the business I'd spent 11 years building crash and burn in the wake of 2020. As a mother I found myself led to choose between my family and my work. Somehow, it was the easiest and hardest choice I've made all rolled into a giant dumpster fire of emotion and chaos.
